Stowage Factor & Cargo Intake

How much cargo actually fits — by hold volume and by deadweight — plus a TPC draft-to-displacement check.

38,849 tmax cargo intake
38,849 tvolume-limited intake
78,720 tdeadweight available for cargo
HOLD m³limiting factor

Intake = hold m³ × (1 − broken stowage) ÷ stowage factor; deadweight available = DWT − bunkers − fresh water − stores − constant. Grain vs bale capacity, deck loads and trim/stability limits still apply.

Draft / TPC check

64,500 tdisplacement at 13.6 m draft
60 cmchange vs reference (4,500 t)

Linear TPC approximation — accurate within ~0.5 m of the reference draft; beyond that use the hydrostatic tables or deadweight scale.

Method

The intake calculation planners run first.

Volume limit

Hold m³ × (1 − broken stowage) ÷ stowage factor — cubic-limited cargoes fill the hold before deadweight.

Weight limit

DWT − bunkers − fresh water − stores − constant — heavy cargoes hit deadweight first.

TPC check

Draft→displacement by tonnes-per-centimetre — linear near the reference draft; hydrostatics beyond that.
