Editorial standards
How this publication is produced.
The sourcing, labelling and review rules every Insights article follows — stated plainly.
Last updated: October 2026
Purpose
Insights is Maritime GPT's research and analysis publication. It exists to explain maritime technology honestly — what the evidence shows, what it doesn't, and where the open questions are. It is informational content, not navigation, compliance, legal, safety or commercial advice.
Evidence labels
Claims in Insights articles carry inline evidence labels so readers can separate fact from inference:
- Established — supported by regulation, standards or widely accepted engineering practice.
- Research demonstration — shown in peer-reviewed or documented research, typically in simulation or trials.
- Field trial / Deployment — observed in real operational use.
- Proposed / Experimental — argued or prototyped, not yet validated.
- Maritime-GPT analysis — our interpretation of the evidence above; opinion, clearly marked.
Sourcing policy
Articles cite primary sources wherever possible — IMO documentation, classification-society requirements, peer-reviewed journals and official statistics — linked in each article's Sources & evidence section. We do not publish unsourced performance claims, customer counts or adoption statistics, and we do not report simulations as deployments.
AI-assistance disclosure
Insights articles are produced with AI assistance and reviewed by the Maritime GPT team before publication. AI assistance is used for research synthesis, drafting and editing — not for inventing sources or claims. Where an article describes AI capability, the evidence label beside the claim states what is actually known.
Image licensing
Article imagery is sourced from Wikimedia Commons under public domain, CC0, CC BY or CC BY-SA licenses. Each image carries its attribution and license on the page, linking to the source file and the license deed. Non-commercial and no-derivatives licensed media are not used.
Corrections
If an article contains an error — a wrong figure, a misattributed claim, an out-of-date regulatory status — tell us and we will correct it. Corrections that change a claim's substance are noted in the article. Write to [email protected] with the article URL and the correction.
Independence
Insights carries no advertising and no sponsored content. Where an article relates to a Maritime GPT product, that relationship is stated in the article itself.
